GREETINGS,
I’M VERNELSIA FRANKLIN
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate (LPC-A) supervised by LaToya Prevost, MA, LPC-S, NCC, RPT. My experiences as a teacher and a server in a church have greatly inspired my pursuit of a career in mental health. My genuine passion for supporting individuals has motivated me to focus on their mental and emotional well-being. With over a decade of experience in teaching and customer service, I have had the opportunity to serve a diverse range of people, and I find fulfillment in contributing to their happiness and well-being.
My approach to therapy emphasizes self-reflection and personal accountability. I believe that nurturing our inner selves can lead to transformative change. Establishing trust with clients is essential for fostering a strong therapeutic relationship. My past experiences, reliability, compassion, and ability to connect with others are the cornerstones of my practice as a therapist.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or background. My primary areas of expertise include grief, depression, social anxiety, ADD/ADHD, behavioral issues in school, peer relationships, low self-esteem, academic advocacy, parental support, phobias, LGBTQ+ relationship matters, and challenges related to divorce. I primarily employ solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy as my therapeutic modalities.
I incorporate multicultural perspectives by valuing diverse backgrounds, identities, and addressing issues related to racism. Additionally, I provide spiritual and faith-based counseling upon request.
I provide virtual, hybrid, and in-person services, prioritizing the creation of a safe and supportive environment for my clients. I strive to ensure that the setting is quiet, with soft music if preferred, and fosters a genuine, private, honest, and clean atmosphere.
My personal statement is "My guiding principle is to begin with self-reflection, as making personal changes is essential for achieving a fulfilling and peaceful life."
The hobbies I enjoy are reading, watching movies and shows, traveling, shopping and spending time with my family and friends. Some unique things about me are I love fashion and I have my own style. I love to eat Mexican food and I want to learn tennis. I am passionate about husband and children and serving Christ. I am a believer!
