INTRODUCTION
The stereotypes of “Counseling/Therapy” tend to be discouraging in our society. The terms often labels people as being “crazy.” Making the decision to attend counseling is a positive step and can offer support beyond that available from family, friends, or social media. It offers a client-centered environment in which you can express your feelings and gain deeper insight into your difficulties. Counseling sessions are also confidential, so you can talk about things you might not feel comfortable discussing with anyone else without the labels and stereotypes of the world. The objective of therapy is to bring about changes in how you manage your thinking, emotional, and behavioral outcomes. SERVICES FOR CHILDREN When children have emotional or behavioral problems, the earlier they receive treatment, the easier it is to help them. It is not a good idea to delay services if a child has the following health challenges: eating disorders, family history of mental illness, or cutting behaviors. If a child's behavior is causing him/her chronic trouble in school or is seriously disrupting your family life, it's important to seek help. Disruptive, explosive, or dangerous behavior can be generated by anxiety, trauma, and frustration from an undiagnosed learning problem among other things. Play Therapy works best with children since play is their language. |
